Jess, with regards to fishing, I am aware of only one local boat for hire out of Newcastle. Details here: http://newcastleboattrips.com/

You could also ask at the Yacht Club at the harbour.

Otherwise, for fishing permits, equipment, bait (and further information), call in at Four Seasons shop on Main Street (+44 (0)28 4372 5078)

1. Take a walk from the Downs Road car park and go off to Dundrum Bay Bring a good digital camera and just admire the view.

2. Go to the Donard Park and follow the Glen River to the top of the Donard Mountain it will take them about 2-2.5 hours.on the way back call into the Harbour Inn( The Cod & Chips) are lovely and the staff are exceptionally friendly. or go across the road to the Deli and try the Baked Potato. The food here is always very competitve and tasty..

3. If they have plenty of time.,when they come out of either the Harbour Inn or the Deli, then go to Widows, Row and walk along King Street.Take pew and rest yourself and look over the Quay,, Now you can do either of two things from here, Look behind you and take the walk up the Mountains along thet path there.(I forget the name) or just keep on going along King Street.

4.Visit the Royal County Down Club.

5. Take a walk up and along the Wild Forest lane as you come from Newcastle and turn left passed the 2nd house( House was built in 1670 I think) We stay here a lot and the family cannot do enough for you( Cathy Mc Dowell) foloow the lane upto the Tullymore Forest Park.

6/ Visit Tulllymore Forest Park and that will take about 1 week.

7/ Visit Maghera Church of Ireland church in Maghera.,

8/ Visit both Churches in Bryansford.

9/ I could go on and on and on
